Home to one of the foremost motorbike collections in Europe, a whole range of historic coaches and one of the most valuable Cranach paintings in the whole of Saxony, Augustusburg Castle is unmissable. Originally built as a hunting lodge and summer residence for Augustus, Elector of Saxony, and renowned as one of the most beautiful Renaissance castles in Central Europe, the grandeur of Augustusburg Castle also contains untold treasures.

This fortress is an interactive adventure for the whole family. Whether it’s the Erzgebirge Christmas and Toy Museum, the “Folk Art with a Flash of Fun” exhibition, or the Castle Museum with its displays about legendary folk hero Karl Stülpner, there are plenty of exhibits for visitors to discover and interact with. We have held the title of “family-friendly experience” since 2012.
